Andrew Carson Sculpture Donated to the Schack

A new, interactive sculpture by artist Andrew Carson has been installed in front of the Schack Art Center in downtown Everett.

The sculpture, "Glass 'n ator", was donated by Mike Peterson of Gallery Mack in Seattle, in memory of the gallery's founder, Barbara Mack Keith.

Andrew Carson is known for creating colorful, kinetic sculptures made from a combination of metal elements and glass caps that rotate in the wind.

According to Carson's website, "I create my sculpture to interact with people and solve riddles of landscape both interior and exterior. Using a varied palette-electronics, illustration, the camera and mechanical systems I work very hard for elegant solutions for demanding problems of space."

"Glass 'n ator" is the latest addition to the Schack's permanent outdoor sculpture gallery that includes "Rip Rap Series: Lotus" by Reg Akright and "Balancing Act" by Joseph Kinnebrew donated in memory of Kenny Hirschhorn.
