Encaustic & The Book

Explore how to incorporate encaustic transfers into the bookmaking process. Text, images and ephemera are options for creating content to include for your encaustic book in this 1-day workshop. Individual workstations are provided.

Students will learn:
how to transfer images onto encaustic surface
how to create flow and continuity with design principles
how to make accordion-style book

Beginning

Supply List:

Students will need to purchase a set of Avery 5264 labels and follow printing instructions: REMOVE Avery labels. Feed the 'blank' Avery label (image should print onto SHINY side, not where Avery label text is on back side) into commercial laser copier, and make color copies as desired. We will use these to transfer onto our book pages.

-cutting tools (scissors, blades, rulers)

Also bring if available:

-any ephemera to add to book COVER

-absorbent, natural-fiber papers to add collage background on book pages
 
-Pan pastels if desired

-graphite pencils show well on encaustic book pages

-any special threads or cording desired for binding book (some will be provided)
