Silk Painting Workshop for Beginners
A fun introduction to fiber art - painting on silk! The students will learn the basics of how to select silks, get them ready to paint, how to paint, how to set their dyes, and how to mount their artwork. They will come away with enough information to help them get started on their own silk painting journey.
In this class, each student will learn about: selecting silks, silk dyeing/painting basics, basic color mixing, and texture-techniques with salt and alcohol. We will also talk about drawing pattern, how to apply & set gutta/resists, and how to mount silk. Each student will have the opportunity to paint on silk with dyes and set their dyes.
Each student will come away from this workshop with the experience of having made their own, hand-painted, 12" square piece of silk art which can be used as a handkerchief or mounted as wall art.
Come wearing clothes that can be dirtied... the dyes used will PERMANENTLY stain clothing!
If desired, students can purchase the pvc stretcher-frame used in class, from instructor for additional $6 Teacher may also have a few additional sets of bottled dyes (black, cyan, yellow, and magenta) for $20 per set.
