Surface Design Series: #2 Hand Stitch & Embellishment

This fun series of Surface Design workshops is intended to introduce students to a wide variety of techniques allowing them to experiment and explore the world of surface design. Students will leave each class with sample of each technique which they will have created. Plus, they will be given instructions sheets so they can continue to work with the various techniques at home.
*For all classes, please consider using fabric sourced from thrift shops (ex: sheets, shirts, curtains, etc)

#2 Hand Stitch & Embellishment:

This workshop will work with basic stitch/embroidery techniques to create two projects. Students will be embellishing small pieces of fabric which they will use to create a small, wearable pocket/pouch. For the second project, students will create a small cover for a mini art-journal which they will also make in class.

Students do not have any required materials to provide, however they are welcome to bring a few of the following items if they wish to:
1) Scraps of fabric
2) Beads
3) Other embellishments (ex: scraps of yarn or fancy edging, lace, rickrack, etc)
4) A pair of scissors to cut paper and/or embellishments
5) Sewing needles if they have a preferred brand/type
