Introduction to Creative Non-Fiction and Memoir

Everyone has a story to tell! This class will investigate the art of crafting a compelling memoir as well as give introduction to the burgeoning field of Creative Non-Fiction. In this class, you will be presented with a number of inspiring examples to help you begin to consider how you might pursue your own craft.

Pine Needle Basket Weaving Basics

You will learn the basic methods of coiled weaving. We will use pine needles as our weaving material, though this technique can be used with other materials as well. You will start your weaving around a decorative center. You will use the basic swirling stitch gives your woven piece stability and is very attractive. Learn how to shape your basket to its desired form.

Oil Painting Workshop

Photo Based Collage

Photo-based collaging is both a creative and intuitive way of producing an art piece using images you already have!

We all have extra copies of unframed pictures, masses of forgotten digital images sitting on our cameras and phones, or sentimental magazines that occupy too much space at home. These are the perfect image sources for this class! Your work may also include sentimental trinkets, jewelry, greeting cards, letters, (you name it!) - anything that can be repurposed, incorporated into a vision board, or immortalized as an art piece to be displayed at home, at work, or gifted to a loved one.

Students will explore several different mediums including: painting with dyes, painting with fabric paints, using fabric sprays, and augmenting acrylic paints with textile medium for painting upon fabric. Students will also work with discharge paste and bleach. If we have time, we will also experiment with using shaving cream for creating a marbled look on fabric.

The Versatility of Colored Pencil

Transcend the traditional look, feel and concept of color pencils by learning to push this medium into a far richer and relevant form of fine art expression. Watercolor Painting I

Enjoy the fascinating, vibrant world of watercolor in this exciting class! We will paint a variety of subjects- landscapes, animals, portraits, and still lives, and explore color, value, shadow, perspective, materials, and brush handling in this fun and informative class for everyone! The subjects will be taught in a step-by-step fashion. You will be able to follow along with the steps to the paintings as they are being done in front of the class.

Electro Etched Copper Pendants or Earrings

Electro-etching is a fabulous low-tech and low-cost way to add design and dimension to a flat sheet of metal. You'll choose a design from a selection provided, transfer it to copper sheet, etch the metal (re-purposed phone chargers are involved - very cool!), cut out your earrings or pendant, and dome your pieces before finishing them.

Beginning & Intermediate Bronze Metal Clay Jewelry

This class will teach beginning students how to manipulate the clay by using molding compound and textures. Students will complete 3-5 projects during class. Intermediate students will learn additional gem setting techniques and further hone their skills.

Lampwork Glass Beadmaking

If you're fascinated by baubles, bangles, and beads, this one day class is for you. You will make many glass beads as you learn the basic skills of heating Moretti (soft) glass, applying it to a mandrel, and shaping it with tools. Beginner
