Magic of the Mask: in Traditional & Contemporary Form
May 3 – June 7
This exhibit focuses on creating a deeper understanding of the connections between cultures and societies through their use of masks. Exploring the significance and role they play in ceremonies from widely separated regions of the world.
With a focus on cultural arts education, the exhibitfeatures masks from Africa, Mexico, South and North America and explores the people and spirituality behind them.
Nearly 2,000 students will tour the exhibit; for at least a third of the youth, it will be their first trip to an art gallery.
