From glassblowing and flameworking to sandblasting and coldworking, Schack's Glass Shops are fully-equipped to meet the needs of students and artists at many levels of experience.
The state of the art - public access - hot shop is the most advanced facility of its kind on the west coast and offers the capacity to accommodate three teams concurrently.
A 1,000 pound furnace (Day Tank) for melting glass and keeping glass at a constant temperature. This furnace a brand new design that maximizes energy efficiency and glass quality.
An operable public viewing window that will allow visitors the thrill of being in the Hot Shop, at a safe distance.
Three annealing ovens to properly cool finished pieces.
Three smaller furnaces (Glory-Holes), which feature state of the art temperature control to help regulate energy consumption.
State of the art microprocessor temperature controllers and combustion safety equipment.
Our Flame & Kiln Studio is where all kiln-formed and flameworked glass classes are taught.
On the Kiln side, we work exclusively with Bullseye Glass. Two Paragaon GL 24 Bullseye Edition Kilns and one Paragon Pearl 56 are available for use along with several worktables for cutting and assembling.
The Flameworking table is set up with 7 Nortel Red Max torches with mega/minor tops, and 2 Caldera kilns with bead collars.
