Schack Art Center Closure

UPDATE: We have made the difficult decision to close to the public until we are told by local officials that it is safe to open. All classes are canceled through the end of the stay at home order.

Dear Schack Community,

We are writing today to share with you the news that effective Monday, March 16th, the Schack Art Center will be closing to the public through March 31 (update, now through June 7, 2020 as per Governor Inslee's instructions).

If you are a current student, please check your email for specific updates on your class.

In light of the directives issued this week by the Governor’s office to limit the spread of the coronavirus in our region, we have made the difficult decision to close to the public beginning Monday, March 16 through March 31. This includes our Main and Mezzanine Galleries, Gallery Store, classrooms, and Hot Shop.

Our staff will be working remotely during this time.

While it is painful to close our space, we are taking the steps we believe are best to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff, visitors, and the community at large.

At this time we have also suspended all special events through April 30th. Teen Nights (March 19 and April 30th), Black & White Awards Ceremony (March 26th), and the April 25th Opening Reception are canceled.

These are uncertain times for many in our community, including arts organizations. If you’d like to support Schack Art Center during this unexpected closure, please consider making a donation or becoming a member to support our nonprofit mission "to celebrate and promote the arts for the enhancement of community life". We look forward to welcoming you back to our space once we are confident that the situation in our community is safe for the health of our visitors.

As this is a rapidly developing situation, we will be monitoring the updates from public health agencies closely and reassessing our plans accordingly. Please continue to monitor our website as this situation progresses.

We'll also keep you updated via Facebook and Instagram where we'll try to share some beautiful art during this uncertain time—including looks at the amazing works in our current and future exhibits. We hope you'll follow along and join us in our virtual space!

We appreciate your flexibility and support as we all work together to assist our community in staying safe and healthy. Thank you for your patience and support
