Summer Public Art Projects

As part of our American Graffiti: from the Streets to Canvas exhibit, staff and community members are coordinating efforts to create a series of public art projects that will bring new street art to downtown Everett.

South Side Schack Mural by APEX and NEON shot by Josh Jones

The first project was a large scale mural on south wall of Schack Art Center, featuring the artwork of world famous Graffiti artists, APEX and NEON. The artists completed work on the mural in June, 2020. Funding for the APEX and NEON mural is from the Community Foundation of Snohomish County Arts Fund. You can find out more about APEX and NEON here.

The second project is an Everett-centric mural on California Ave, on the north wall of El Paraiso Restaurant. Artwork for this mural was created Seattle based design firm, Invisible Creature. Funding for this mural is provided by Skotdal Real Estate, City of Everett LTAC fund, and the Everett Cultural Arts Commission.

East Side Schack Mural by Blake Taylor

The third project in the series is a mural featuring the artwork of an Camano Island based artist, Blake Taylor. The mural features a godzilla motif and will be painted near the eastern entrance to Schack Art Center.

The fourth project in this public art series is the Summer Street Art Celebration panels. For this exhibit, a team of community members commissioned local artists to create artwork panels that will be hung throughout downtown Everett during the month of August. This project is sponsored by the Community Foundation of Snohomish County Arts Fund. You can find out more about this project right here.

The American Graffiti: from the Streets to Canvas exhibit will allow the community a rare public viewing of over 80 spectacular graffiti originals held in a private collection.  This exhibit gives art patrons a rare and up-close look at this genre of work. Never before has an exhibit of street art of this magnitude been held in the Pacific Northwest. Find out more at our exhibit page here

JAG ArtWorks, an art supply store and gallery adjacent to Schack Art Center, will be holding a partner show in conjunction with this exhibit. Their show, West Coast Graffiti Exhibition, will also run June 25-September 5, 2020 and will feature over 30 artists from as far South as Los Angeles. Their Exhibition includes artists of all ages and skill levels, most with 15+ years of experience.
