Advanced Encaustics

All New! Advanced workshop! For my previous encaustic students, or those with some experience. We will be using plaster, fiber, wood, and Mixed media materials to up our encaustic play, let's take this journey to the next level my friends, can't wait, (wear old clothes) you will create 2-3 art pieces.

Beginning Encaustics

A jam-packed workshop full of the core information you need to start your encaustic journey, yet a very creative, hands-on approach to learning to use this joyful medium. All students will leave with at least four paintings on wood panels!  I will be showing you different ways in which to use this versatile medium.  Look forward to a colorful event!

Block Printed Holiday Cards

In this three-hour workshop we’ll draw and carve holiday card designs and hand print them on cardstock using water-soluble inks! We’ll use a variety of ink colors and several decorative techniques will be demonstrated for experimentation.

Everyone will walk away with a set of their very own hand-printed greeting cards and envelopes, their carved block and all the knowledge you need to do it all again at home!

Bookbinding II

This is the perfect class if you love writing, drawing, painting, journaling, scrapbooking, working with your hands or if you've always wondered how books are made. You will learn a new structure each week with an extra class at the end to allow time to complete bindings with instructor guidance, if needed.

Cold Enamel Jewelry

Create faux enamel effects on metal with Iced Enamels®. Learn how to use enameling powders, enameling medium and resin to permanently adhere color to metal. This technique will create the same look as torch-fired or kiln-fired enamels but without the heat. Learn to combine Enamel Medium with quick-melting Relique powders, to create beautiful mixed-media metalwork in minutes. Cold Enameling will never rub off, fade or yellow over time.

Drawing in Color: Pastels & Colored Pencil

Drawing is extremely easy and fun! We will be drawing a variety of subjects such as landscapes, animals, flowers and still lives in pastel and colored pencil in this class. We will be covering contrast, highlights/shadow and composition. The subjects will be taught in a step-by-step fashion. You will be able to follow along with the steps to achieve beautiful finished projects!

Fabulous Acrylic Pours

Students will explore and learn the popular and fascinating, fast and exciting new art form of acrylic pours.

Getting Real with Resin

Learn to work with ICE Resin, a non-toxic jeweler's grade resin that gives you endless possibilities for your jewelry designs! Pour the resin into a bezel setting or silicone mold, or even use it over paper. You can use lots of different images and materials with ICE Resin that will be sure to get your creativity running wild! You will be able to carefully take your piece with you after class, or come back the next day to pick it up.

Hot & Spicy Encaustics

Let's get busy creating a series of 4 works on wood with the spicy colors of the season! Combine them with grays and cools for some pop, this is always a great workshop that produces great art. I'll demo pumpkins and carving wax for depth, and fall landscapes, however you may paint whatever you enjoy!

Pour, Stream & Marble

Discover a full range of acrylic products and techniques that allow you to develop succulent rich surfaces. We will explore Fluid & High Flow Paints combined with various gels & mediums transforming each into luminous pours, streams and marble effects. I will also introduce Golden's new Pouring Mediums available in both Gloss & Matte!

Printmaking & Collage

We will explore techniques creating your own printed imagery using to create inspirational Collage artworks! Learn the basics of creating monotype, collagraph and relief printed images. All of these methods create unique results; the pressure of printing creates texture and pattern not possible when painting directly on paper. You will explore techniques of transferring imagery without a press, using water based, slow drying acrylic paints.

Raised Impressions with Stencils

Learn how to create beautiful textured masterpieces with ease through stenciling with a variety of textures and mediums.

Students will learn how to create stencils, stencil techniques and mediums used to create raised textures for multi-media creations.

Students will create stencils and sample textures in order to create a final multi-media design.

Repurposing Fiber with Warm Wax

This class is an opportunity to take used natural fiber clothing (silk, cotton, linen) such as shirts, skirts, scarves, even (pliable) handbags, deconstructed hats and shoes -- and make them into transformed 3-d artwork. We'll be adding wire and wax for support to make freestanding encaustic sculptures.

Resin & Clay Jewelry

In this unique class you will learn a multitude of techniques to create beautiful relief pendants, earrings or links for jewelry. Visible Mending with Tenum

In this class we discuss ethical fashion practices and how mending goes hand in hand with that mission. I'll teach basic hand sewing techniques and how to design a sashiko stitch pattern to make your mending a beautiful work of art.
