Mixed Media

3D Eco Art

Students will discover how to use your hands to work with different materials and textures and their imagination to create an original 3D painting while learning to take care of the environment by using recycled materials.

Alcohol Inks

Students will explore the world of alcohol ink, using a variety of colors, including metallics, to create abstracts or abstract landscapes and florals.

They will learn the characteristics of alcohol ink, and several techniques to manipulate the ink such as blowing with a straw, making color washes, misters, daubers, how to use medium and alcohol, and finish with rubber stamps.

Children's Book Illustration

In this class, students will learn fundamentals for how to illustrate a short children's book using a story they have written or have permission to use.

Collage & Wax on Wood Panels Workshop

First we'll create some fun collage techniques on thick long boards and then put a silky coating of encaustic medium over and then add more dimension and shine! These can also be more personal if you choose to bring your own mementos or photocopies of photos, (not required though) these also can be inspiration boards!

Eco Friendly Etching

In this class, you will learn how to etch copper in a simple salt water bath using only batteries! This chemical-free technique is fun and easy and it won't break the bank. You'll also learn how to finish and color your etched pieces to add an extra dimension to your jewelry designs.

Fantastic Fire & Wax: Encaustic Shellac Burns and Other Fiery Fun!

In this fun and fiery workshop we will focus on intermediate and advanced encaustic techniques. These techniques will include wet and dry shellac burns, working with alcohol based inks, oil pigment sticks, and mixed media collage.

Fluid Acrylics: Exploring Intuitive Abstract Painting

Previously featured in USA Today and O Magazine, this fun and fluid workshop is a great way for beginning and mid career painters to unleash their artistic passion and discover (or rediscover) their intuitive creative voice.

As we explore the exciting world of intuitive abstract painting, texture, line, form and color come alive with vibrant fluid acrylic paint, wide brushes and a unique assortment of mark making tools.

Gel Printing with Botanicals

Learn how to create unique monoprints without a press using a gel printing plate and botanical materials.

In this class we'll use an 8" x 10" gel plate with acrylic paint and natural elements, such as leaves, grasses, and flowers. We'll work to create prints that can stand on their own, but gel printed papers are also wonderful for collage, cards, art journals, or other mixed media projects.

HOT WAX: Encaustic Basics

In this workshop beginning encaustic students will receive complete basic encaustic painting instruction. This will include history and safety information on encaustic painting, a complete overview of the materials including medium, paint, tools, brushes and the hot palette, encaustic medium making instruction and DIY recipe, fusing fundamentals with heat guns and blow torches, substrate (supports) overview and preparation including smooth vs textured surface techniques, preparing hot wax paints, and learning how to do color layering and suspension. By the end of the day each student will have completed multiple practice boards and four finished abstract encaustic paintings on wood panels.

Indirect Stepping Stone

Students will be creating a stepping stone using the indirect method. Using contact paper at bottom of mold, students will be able to cut pieces of glass into a design of their choosing, cover the whole thing with concrete and then pop out the stepping stone when it is dry.

Intro to Gel Plate Printmaking

Make a Little Birdie Mosaic

In this class students will create their own unique mosaic bird. Learn the reverse method of mosaics with clear contact paper and glass. Then using silicon glue you apply your design. Your instructor will pre cut the bird shapes and take them home to grout. Students will be able to pick it up the week after class.

Make a Pop Up Art Journal!

This is a great introduction to bookbinding!

We'll use folding and creasing techniques to fold large pieces of paper into fun and unique journals. We'll use a variety of decorative papers, glue, scissors/razors, rulers, and creative folds to create one-of-a-kind handmade art journals!

Mixed Media Workshop: Landscapes & Waterscapes

In this class, students will be creating a landscape or waterscape collage inspired by nature, while also using their imagination. Starting with a color palette that speaks to their environment of nature, using nature themed imagery and layering techniques to create texture and dimension.

Mosaic Block Party! It's a Wrap

Mosaic a block of wood using a two sided adhesive wrap around block of wood. You will mosaic and then immediately able to grout. Students will leave with a completed a mosaic in one session!

Mosaic Garden Coasters

In this workshop the students would learn the indirect method of mosaic draw design on reverse side of clear contact paper: Lay contact paper sticky side up. Lay design upside down on contact paper. Lay contact paper bottom of mold. Pour mortar into mold. Wait 24 hours pop coaster out, remove contact paper to reveal design.

Paint Like Pollock

Take a look into the intriguing art of Jackson Pollock known as action paintings, also known as fractal or abstract drip splatter paintings. Students will dribble, splatter and splash paint onto a large canvas while painting on the floor, Pollock style.

Wake Up Your Abstracts: Movement & Mark Making

What a Relief

In the class students will draw on Styrofoam creating a imprint. Plaster of Paris is then poured into the form and let harden. When its dry, we release the form and then carve into imprinted image creating a relief image.
