Cold Enamel Jewelry

Create faux enamel effects on metal with Iced Enamels®. Learn how to use enameling powders, enameling medium and resin to permanently adhere color to metal. This technique will create the same look as torch-fired or kiln-fired enamels but without the heat. Learn to combine Enamel Medium with quick-melting Relique powders, to create beautiful mixed-media metalwork in minutes. Cold Enameling will never rub off, fade or yellow over time.

Collage & Image Transfers

We will explore techniques combining paper, image transfers and acrylic to create inspirational artworks! Experiment with various products that can be used to transfer laser copies of your own artwork, drawings or photographs into the surface of your artwork. Learn how to develop layers of pattern & imagery, combining simple methods using paint, mediums & gels, enriching the surface by developing depth.

Creating Dimensional Surfaces with Encaustic

This workshop incorporates the layering of mixed media in-between layers of translucent layers of encaustic onto 2-d supports, adding dimensional elements to create a rich and luminous surface.

Drawing in Color: Pastels & Colored Pencil

Drawing is extremely easy and fun! We will be drawing a variety of subjects such as landscapes, animals, flowers and still lives in pastel and colored pencil in this class. We will be covering contrast, highlights/shadow and composition. The subjects will be taught in a step-by-step fashion. You will be able to follow along with the steps to achieve beautiful finished projects!

Fabulous Acrylic Pours

Students will explore and learn the popular and fascinating, fast and exciting new art form of acrylic pours.

Students will learn how to prep their canvas, selecting colors, paint layering, several techniques of applying paint to the surface, as well as finishing the artwork and prep for hanging.

Hand-Printed Image: Greeting Cards

In this three-hour workshop we’ll draw and carve holiday card designs and hand print them on cardstock using water-soluble inks! We’ll use a variety of ink colors and several decorative techniques will be demonstrated for experimentation.

Everyone will walk away with a set of their very own hand-printed greeting cards and envelopes, their carved block and all the knowledge you need to do it all again at home!

This is a favorite of mine as we cut, glue and paint. We will be working on 3 12" thick wood panels. I'll show you how to incorporate bold abstract paint into your collage pieces. You can bring your own materials to collage with but it is never required, let's get busy!

Modern Collage

Join celebrated Northwest artist Harold Hollingsworth for this exploration of letter form collage technique.

This class explores readymade-paper collage on wood panel, using letter forms from flyers and found paper, cut apart, and reassembled using Yes! paste.

Tiny Stitches - Joining Encaustic Dipped Cloth

Explore ‘the stitch' as a method to join pieces of cloth that we will dip into encaustic to make free form wall hangings.

Understanding Color II - Further Exploration of Color Relationships

You know the color wheel and understand the basic color relationships of Analogous, Compliments, and Near Compliments, but there is so much more! In this 4 hour class we will use watercolors to explore how Hue, Value, Saturation, and Contrasts can affect the appearance of a color and develop a deeper understanding of how colors work together.
