Teacher Workshops

Exploring STEM and Cultural Heritage Through Art

Hybrid format, participants can join via zoom or attend in person at the Schack Art Center. Participants will indicate how they will attend via an emailed online form.

Inspired by the exhibition Story Tellers: Two Friends, Two Cultures. Art is saturated with culture. In this workshop, participants will gain ideas for building student appreciation of cultural diversity. Hands-on activities will promote renewed dialogue as participants acquire techniques to guide students toward creating unique interpretations of their heritage through visual narrative art. The universal language of art will be used as the on ramp to cultural competency.

This workshop will value the way Indigenous People experience the world and acknowledge how that experience continues to provide pathways to scientific, technological, engineering, and mathematical knowledge.
