ZOOM Online class: Face It: Power Play Portraits

Knowledge is power. Play is important! This 6-week course combines anatomical knowledge and playful exploration. First, focus is on facial muscles, planes, and shading, while completing a practice portrait. After that, creative media approaches result in a dynamic second portrait in your own unique style. Overall drawing and creative skills improve as a result! Who knew learning could be so fun!

ZOOM Online: Encaustic & Resin Effects with Acrylic

Discover how to create the luscious effect of wax encaustic & resin pours using GOLDEN Acrylic products. This online class includes demonstrations of how to achieve this effect using various acrylic mediums & gels; transparent & translucent, tinted & un-tinted, smooth & textured. In the process you'll discover the unique qualities of each product.

Lampwork Glass Beadmaking

If you're fascinated by baubles, bangles, and beads, this one day class is for you. You will make many glass beads as you learn the basic skills of heating Moretti (soft) glass, applying it to a mandrel, and shaping it with tools.

Ceramic Tidepool with Melted Glass

Make a beautiful treasure. Everyone loves to look at sea life in a tidepool and this is your time to create your own. Students will learn to create the bowl and sea animals using basic clay hand building techniques.

Fused Coral Sea Bowl

You will be creating a beautiful sea-inspired coral bowl to adorn your tabletop.

Students will make a 10"-13" fused coral bowl using strips of glass. Additional design elements can be added with frit and nuggets.

Beginning Stained Glass

This introductory class provides a foundation for stained glass using the copper foil technique.  We will cover designing projects for glass, the art of glass cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, finishing and presentation.

Weekend Beginning Silversmithing

Beginning students will learn how to fabricate jewelry from metal sheet and wire.  Begin with basic skills such as forging, soldering and setting cabochon stones.  Learn to use a jeweler's saw and other hand tools.

Intro to Needle Felting

In this class students will discover how fun and easy it is to create with wool fleece. From simple wool beads to intricately detailed small figures, the creative possibilities are endless! Students will leave class with new felted creations plus the tools and knowledge to keep on creating more at home.

Come Play and Make a Plate!

Explore what fused glass is all about while making an 8" round or square plate.  All you need to bring is your creativity!  Glass will be fired outside of class and ready for pick up at the Schack Art Center two weeks later.

Beginning Lapidary - Cabochon Cutting

Cabochon cutting is a method of cutting gemstones with a convex, rounded surface that is polished but unfaceted. The back of a normal cabochon-cut stone is flat.

Students will learn how to take a stone from flat slab to a beautiful polished piece ready for jewelry or other artwork.

Glassblowing II

If you already know the basics of blowing glass, but aren't quite ready to work on your own, this class is for you. The use of handles, bits, and wraps will be covered, as will color application.

1,2,3 Sawing Made Easy

Enter a new realm of jewelry techniques by learning how to use a jeweler's saw. Bring your own designs, or choose one of our samples to cut out of metal with a saw and create a pendant. Students will learn both sawing and piercing metal as well as finishing and filing steps to creating a smooth, eye-catching piece.

Eco Friendly Etching

In this class, you will learn how to etch copper in a simple salt water bath using only batteries! This chemical-free technique is fun and easy and it won't break the bank. You'll also learn how to finish and color your etched pieces to add an extra dimension to your jewelry designs.

Wake Up Your Abstracts: Movement & Mark Making

Learn how to add action to your abstract paintings with a variety of strokes and marks. We will paint large on paper with Ink and Mixed Media. You will learn how to create bold pattern and create several large paintings on 18"x24" artist grade paper.
