Come Play and Make a Plate!

Explore what fused glass is all about while making an 8" round or square plate.  All you need to bring is your creativity!  Glass will be fired outside of class and ready for pick up at the Schack Art Center at a later date.

Decorative Fused Glass Lantern

You will be creating a beautiful decorative lantern with fused panels to enjoy outdoors or indoors.

You will learn basic fusing concepts in this class. Students will create four custom fused glass panels using frit, stringers, nuggets and enamel paints.

Enameling on Copper

Enameling is the art of fusing powdered glass to metal. This class will teach the three basic techniques of enameling. Students will learn to stencil, cloisonne and chambleve on copper.

Exploring Borosilicate Glass

This introductory class will give students the opportunity learn the basics of borosilicate glass. Students will learn how to how to melt solid glass, blow out hollow work and how to sculpt or shape glass. Coloring techniques will also be covered.

Fabulous Acrylic Pours - Half Day

Students will explore and learn the popular and fascinating, fast and exciting new art form of acrylic pours.

Students will learn how to prep their canvas, selecting colors, paint layering, several techniques of applying paint to the surface, as well as finishing the artwork and prep for hanging.

Fluid Acrylics: Exploring Intuitive Abstract Painting

Previously featured in USA Today and O Magazine, this fun and fluid workshop is a great way for beginning and mid career painters to unleash their artistic passion and discover (or rediscover) their intuitive creative voice.

As we explore the exciting world of intuitive abstract painting, texture, line, form and color come alive with vibrant fluid acrylic paint, wide brushes and a unique assortment of mark making tools.

Glassblowing II

If you already know the basics of blowing glass, but aren't quite ready to work on your own, this class is for you. The use of handles, bits, and wraps will be covered, as will color application.

Goblets

Learn to blow thin glass cups, stems and blown feet and learn to put them together using the "garage". We will also learn exercises to practice building skills outside of the class. Teamwork and repetition will be emphasized.

Students will learn how to make "avolios", "blown feet", and the fundamentals of using the garage to assemble multiple parts.

Interm/Adv Silversmithing - Jewelry Workshop

*Students must have taken the Beginning-Intermediate Silversmithing course or have instructor's permission to take this class. 

After learning basic silversmithing skills in the beginning class, students can hone those skills with guided individual projects. The instructor presents more techniques and working side by side with other students creating their individual projects broadens the experience.

Joy of Pastels

Pastels are fun! This class will teach you the basics of getting set up and started in this wonderful medium, and students will gain confidence learning how to layer and manipulate marks to make finished paintings. They will learn all about soft pastels, how they are made, how to use them, and what surfaces work best for you.

Lampwork Beadmaking Students Open Studio Time

This Lampworking Open Studio is a time for Intermediate and Advanced students to practice what they have learned and make more beads.

Students must have taken at least one lampwork beadmaking class at the Schack or from Staci Adman.

Lampwork Glass Beadmaking

If you're fascinated by baubles, bangles, and beads, this one day class is for you. You will make many glass beads as you learn the basic skills of heating Moretti (soft) glass, applying it to a mandrel, and shaping it with tools.

Lampworking: Make a Pipe

This class is a one day workshop of practicing working with hollow glass to make a functional pipe.

Students will learn how to use blow tubes, weld glass, use a punty, and how to shape hollow glass.

Lino Block Printing

Students will explore carving and printing a lino print, which is a very satisfying medium to carve. The printing process is easy and you will be amazed at how professional your prints look.

Mosaic Garden Coasters

In this workshop the students would learn the indirect method of mosaic draw design on reverse side of clear contact paper: Lay contact paper sticky side up. Lay design upside down on contact paper. Lay contact paper bottom of mold. Pour mortar into mold. Wait 24 hours pop coaster out, remove contact paper to reveal design.

Inspired by floorcloths and vinyl from the 1920's and 30's, floorcloths are a vibrant, inexpensive way to add color and personality to your living space. You will make an entry mat sized floorcloth that will be a splash of color to welcome all to your home.

In this class instructor will help students design and implement the use of polymer clay in creating a nature based journal cover. We will be decorating the cover of an A5 size sketch journal.

Beginning students will learn how to fabricate jewelry from metal sheet and wire.  Begin with basic skills such as forging, soldering and setting cabochon stones.  Learn to use a jeweler's saw and other hand tools.
