According to Americans for the Arts, artists are among the most severely affected workers by the COVID-19 crisis. Nearly 62% have become fully unemployed and the average financial loss per artist/creative worker is $24,000. Nationally, 95% of artists have reported income loss for 2020.

It is with these numbers in mind that we at Schack Art Center took action, pursuing CARES grants enabling us to create the Schack CARES: Artist in Residence program.

In late 2020, Schack Art Center hired 30 Snohomish County based artists, educators, and art admin professionals who were economically impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. This team consists of painters, graphic artists, glassblowers, illustrators, silversmiths, educators and other creative folks. These individuals worked on a part or full time basis- creating art and completing projects for Schack Art Center until December 30, 2020.

This exhibit celebrates and promotes the work of these talented artists.

We invite you to follow their creative journeys on our Facebook and Instagram pages with the hashtag #schackresidentartist and #schackCARES.
