Levels: Intermediate/Advanced
Sessions: 6
Instructor: Angeline Shrike

Study the classical approach to still life painting in this oil painting course taught by atelier-trained artist Angeline Shrike. Designed for students ready to deepen their painting practice, this class introduces the foundational principles of academic still life painting, including composition, lighting, color relationships, and long-term oil painting methods.
Through lectures, demonstrations, and personalized critiques, students will develop a stronger understanding of how to observe and translate form, light, and atmosphere into a finished painting. Emphasis will be placed on building a painting thoughtfully over time using traditional oil painting techniques and studio practices.
Students will create still life paintings while gaining practical experience in the classical atelier approach to oil painting.

A container to wash paints in (any container that can double as a brush cleaning and solvent storage is good—a glass jar is ok too!)
A container for linseed oil (a glass jar is ok too!)
Paintbrushes (there are many options—you can always ask your local art store to help you put together a set that fits your budget, but you will want an assortment of sizes and styles of synthetic or mongoose brushes in filbert, flat, and round.
