Art Alternatives: Reach

September 9th - October 19th

Since 1992 the Schack Art Center has brought art programming to youth involved with Denney Juvenile Justice Center in various ways. Currently we present art in five different programs ranging from incarcerated youth to diversion and wellness. We are also newly involved in a parent/youth collaboration and have been hosting an alumni group for youth who wish to continue doing art together.

Our Art Alternatives Program offers opportunities for positive relationships while working together on a variety of creative art projects with our instructors.

The Art of Tremor

October 27th - January 4th

The Art of Tremor exhibit features a group of artists that live with Essential Tremor and the daily challenges it presents. Essential Tremor is similar to Parkinson’s however the tremor activates with movement and is typically quiet at rest. There are millions of people in the world impacted by Essential Tremor. A majority of the public sees Essential Tremor as an addiction or drug use tremor. Some even see it as a mental disability. Consequently, many of us impacted by tremor do not socialize and do not work, mainly due to feelings of shame and rejection. Through our art, we hope to inspire others that live with tremor. We have tremor, but tremor does not define who we are.

Works in this exhibit are all original art and encompass multiple mediums. We hope you enjoy our exhibit and come away with a bit more understanding of Essential Tremor.
