Location: Schack Art Center, Lapidary Studio

This intermediate intarsia class builds on foundational skills and introduces more complex design techniques used in advanced stone inlay work. Students will explore pattern development through bookmatching, splits, multiples, stepped designs, and log-style compositions.

Instruction emphasizes precision fitting, advanced layout planning, and refining stone-to-stone transitions for more intricate and dynamic designs. Students will deepen their technical ability while expanding creative possibilities within the intarsia process.

Each student will complete and finish their own piece using cabbing machines, including grinding and polishing. Finished works can be used in jewelry applications or kept as standalone art pieces.

Prerequisites: Intro to La[pidary + Intro to Intarsia

*Materials are included, and students are welcome to bring in their stones!

Please remember to bring a lunch to the first day of class, since we meet all day.
