Middle-Eastern Style Marquetry

This hands-on class introduces students to the traditional art of marquetry, a decorative woodworking technique practiced throughout the Mediterranean and Middle East. Using a coping saw, students will cut and shape thin pieces of wood to create intricate patterns and designs.
Working from instructor-provided templates, students will learn essential techniques for cutting, fitting, and assembling their pieces into a cohesive composition. The class emphasizes precision, patience, and craftsmanship while remaining accessible to beginners—no prior experience is required.
All materials are provided, and students will leave with a finished marquetry piece and a solid foundation in this timeless craft.
