Ready to dive into watercolor and have a go painting outside? This two-day workshop is designed for beginners or anyone who wants to refresh their skills while painting outdoors. It’s the perfect way to experiment with watercolor techniques in a relaxed, social environment—while connecting with others who share your enthusiasm for the craft.
We’ll start at the Schack Art Center before heading (weather permitting) to the Everett Marina for a day of painting en plein air. Working outdoors allows you to capture the true colors, light, and textures of your surroundings—not to mention, it’s a much more engaging way to learn than working from a photo in a studio!
In this workshop, you’ll learn key watercolor techniques like washes, color mixing, and glazing while working on subjects such as trees, water, and skies. As you paint, you'll discover how to embrace the fluidity and unpredictability of watercolor, and how to let go of perfectionism to create more spontaneous, expressive work.
All materials are provided—just bring your curiosity, a small seat or cushion for working outside.
