Flush Setting of Faceted Stones

In this class, students will learn how to set faceted stones with precision by using stone setting burrs for drilling. They will create their own beading tool to ensure a strong hold around the stone setting. Additionally, students will learn the technique of melting silver to create a backplate that securely holds the faceted stones in place.

Would you like to turn an object that holds personal meaning into a beautiful work of glass art? This workshop is perfect for all experience levels—no prior glasswork knowledge needed!
In this class, you'll learn how to create a custom silicone mold of your chosen object and transform it into a unique glass piece using the Freeze and Fuse technique.
We'll explore how to create detailed fused glass forms by "painting" powdered glass into your mold, freezing it into shape, and then kiln-firing it to fuse the particles into solid glass. The finished piece can be displayed on its own, turned into jewelry, or incorporated into a larger work of art.
Finished glass pieces will be ready for pickup the next day after firing.
Please wear closed-toed shoes.

During this hands-on class, you will be making two spoons. Get started with the basic skills and safety practices while carving a simple and useful kitchen spoon. In this introductory level class we will begin with learning how to make a simple lampwork bead with "soft glass" (Effetre). After practicing pulling stringer and making dots, we will put everything together to make cute little bee beads! Each student will also have the opportunity to make a bee houseplant decoration or two by creating a bee on the end of a thin stainless steel rod. As time permits, everyone may also try out small glass flower presses.

Gelli printing is easy and fun! In this two-day workshop, students will use leaves, grasses, and blossoms to create several simple and charming compositions printed in different color combinations on a variety of papers. Students will be provided with a gel plate, brayer, paint, papers, and botanicals to incorporate into the designs of their choice. On day two of the workshop, students can cut, collage, and reassemble their prints into finished works for home decor, note cards, journal additions, and more. The only limit is your imagination!
Please bring to class an apron to protect clothing and any papers you think might be fun to use as well as a botanical collection of simple forms that will lie flat on the plate.
