Explore the art of metalworking in this immersive workshop as you create a custom set of rings using recycled silver and bronze. Students will learn essential techniques including fusing, texturing, forming, finishing, and fabricating a bezel to set a gemstone securely. This class is suitable for both beginners and experienced makers and emphasizes craftsmanship, creative exploration, and mixed-metal design.
Students may bring recycled silver scraps (such as old rings, earrings, or other gold or silver jewelry). Additional recycled metal will be available for purchase from the instructor during class. This watercolor workshop introduces the fundamentals of painting and how to take those skills outdoors to work en plein air—painting directly from life. Slowing down, observing closely, and responding to the landscape are at the heart of this class, as nature becomes both the subject and the teacher.
We’ll meet each day at The Jetty Bar & Grille, located on the scenic Everett waterfront. After a brief demonstration and discussion of techniques—such as washes, wet-into-wet and wet-into-dry painting, and color mixing—we’ll disperse to nearby waterfront locations to paint the marina, islands, mountains, and working harbor.
All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to those with some experience. The class focuses on essential techniques you’ll return to again and again while building confidence painting outdoors.
All materials are provided for use during the workshop.
Please bring lunch or snacks, a water bottle, and whatever you need to be comfortable working outside—such as a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and/or a portable seat. We will plan to paint near the grassy areas around the waterfront; shaded spots are often available, though as this is a public space, they cannot be guaranteed.

Create a beautiful and functional piece of jewelry in this relaxing two-day workshop focused on designing and fabricating your own boho meditation spinning ring. Also known as worry rings, spinning rings feature multiple movable bands that rotate freely around a base ring, offering both visual interest and a calming tactile element.
In this hands-on class, students will learn foundational metalsmithing techniques including measuring, forming, texturing, soldering, and finishing a ring. Participants will design a one-of-a-kind piece using wire, layered metal textures, and optional stones to reflect their own personal style and aesthetic.
Throughout the workshop, students will gain practical jewelry-making skills while exploring the creative possibilities of handcrafted wearable art. This class is suitable for beginners as well as experienced makers looking to expand their metalsmithing practice.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with a finished handcrafted meditation spinning ring and the knowledge needed to continue creating jewelry at home.

Discover the beauty of traditional lacquerware and mother-of-pearl inlay in this beginner-friendly workshop inspired by historic decorative arts. Using safe, eco-friendly materials in place of traditional natural lacquer, students will create a refined lacquerware-inspired accessory in just one session.
Participants will learn about the history and visual style of Chinese lacquerware while designing and assembling a small decorative piece such as a hair stick, hair clip, or other accessory using copper bases, standard mother-of-pearl inlay pieces, and decorative materials.
Optional premium upgrades will also be available during the workshop for purchase from the instructor. Students may choose more refined bases, including sandalwood bases, for an additional $10 per student. Imported Australian abalone shell and pre-cut shaped mother-of-pearl pieces will be available for an additional $15 per student.
No prior experience is necessary. Students will leave with a finished handcrafted piece inspired by the elegance of traditional mother-of-pearl inlay.
Make Your Own Fused Glass Serving Set

Learn the fundamentals of glass fusing while designing and creating your own serving set. In this one-day workshop, participants will create original compositions using colorful glass that is then kiln-fired and slumped into finished tableware.
Students can choose one of three project formats: a statement set (one large plate or bowl paired with two smaller matching pieces), a social set (two medium plates, dishes, or bowls), or a coaster set (six coasters). Designs will be created using a curated selection of colored sheet glass for added depth, pattern, and expression.
Throughout the class, participants will learn foundational kiln-forming techniques, including glass cutting, composition, color layering, and safe studio practices. No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment with color, form, and light.
After the workshop, all pieces will be kiln-fired and available for pickup as finished glassware ready for everyday use.

The Sogetsu School, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, is guided by the principle that Ikebana reflects the creativity of the individual. Using flowers, we create beauty through our own feelings and expression. Join us to experience the joy of creating your own arrangement.

Botanical Gel Printing: Christmas Trees

In this workshop, students will use ferns, leaves, and branches (real and fake) to create a variety of botanical gel prints that mimic the look of Christmas trees.
Students will leave with festive prints that could be used on holiday cards, gift bags, wrapping, or tags. The instructor will also provide each student with 4 card blanks and envelopes to print on during class or to take home for future use.
Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has a minimal setup and does not require the use of a press, making it possible to do it from almost anywhere.
No prior gel printing experience is required.
