Make Your Own Fused Glass Serving Set
Dates: Saturday, June 27, from 1 pm to 5 pm
Fee: $155/discount with member code
Ages: 13+
Levels: All
Sessions: 1
Instructor: Adam Wallace
Location: Schack Art Center, Flame and Kiln Studio
Learn the fundamentals of glass fusing while designing and creating your own serving set. In this one-day workshop, participants will create original compositions using colorful glass that is then kiln-fired and slumped into finished tableware.
Students can choose one of three project formats: a statement set (one large plate or bowl paired with two smaller matching pieces), a social set (two medium plates, dishes, or bowls), or a coaster set (six coasters). Designs will be created using a curated selection of colored sheet glass for added depth, pattern, and expression.
Throughout the class, participants will learn foundational kiln-forming techniques, including glass cutting, composition, color layering, and safe studio practices. No prior experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment with color, form, and light.
After the workshop, all pieces will be kiln-fired and available for pickup as finished glassware ready for everyday use.
All supplies provided.
Please wear closed-toe shoes.
Freeze 'N Fuse: Easy Glass Casting
Dates: Saturday, July 11, from 1 pm to 4 pm
Fee: $155/discount with member code
Ages: 13+
Levels: All
Sessions: 1
Instructor: Adam Wallace
Location: Schack Art Center, Flame and Kiln Studio
Explore the expressive possibilities of glass in this hands-on workshop focused on the freeze-and-fuse technique. Participants will create small fused glass sculptures using colored glass powders and silicone molds inspired by natural forms such as flowers, shells, crystals, and succulents.
Working directly with vibrant glass powders, students will learn how to fill, layer, and shape materials by hand, building simple yet striking compositions of color, pattern, and texture inside each mold. Through this process, each piece takes form before being frozen, de-molded, and kiln-fired, allowing the powdered glass to transform into solid, dimensional glass.
Throughout the class, students will gain an understanding of how to properly work with glass powders and slurry, including techniques for creating visual depth and controlling composition within mold-based forms. A kiln schedule will be shared so participants can follow the full transformation process from raw material to finished object.
No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment with color and form. Finished pieces will be available for pickup after firing.
All supplies provided.
Please wear closed-toe shoes.
