Create a beautiful and functional piece of jewelry in this relaxing two-day workshop focused on designing and fabricating your own boho meditation spinning ring. Also known as worry rings, spinning rings feature multiple movable bands that rotate freely around a base ring, offering both visual interest and a calming tactile element.

In this hands-on class, students will learn foundational metalsmithing techniques including measuring, forming, texturing, soldering, and finishing a ring. Participants will design a one-of-a-kind piece using wire, layered metal textures, and optional stones to reflect their own personal style and aesthetic.

Throughout the workshop, students will gain practical jewelry-making skills while exploring the creative possibilities of handcrafted wearable art. This class is suitable for beginners as well as experienced makers looking to expand their metalsmithing practice.

Students who would like to work with sterling silver may purchase silver wire and sheet directly from the instructor during class. Sterling silver is available à la carte, so you pay only for the specific amount of material you use. Silver purchases can be paid for by cash, Venmo, or check.

Students are also welcome to bring their own silver scrap to transform into sheet or wire. The instructor will demonstrate how to create an ingot from recycled silver, which can then be processed into usable material for your project.

By the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with a finished handcrafted meditation spinning ring and the knowledge needed to continue creating jewelry at home.

Capture the organic beauty of the Pacific Northwest shoreline in this intensive two-day jewelry-making workshop. Inspired by the smooth, weathered stones found along local beaches, you’ll create a bold, textured statement ring or cuff featuring dimensional elements in silver, copper, and bronze.

On the first day, you’ll pour a custom silver ingot and roll it into a substantial ring shank. You’ll also learn how to transform scrap metals into organic “pebbles,” creating domed forms and delicate granules to use in your design.

On the second day, you’ll explore composition and multi-metal soldering techniques to arrange and securely attach your metal elements to the band. You’ll finish your piece with oxidation and high-relief polishing to emphasize the contrast between the shimmering metal and deep, sandy shadows.

No previous experience is required, but some jewelry-making experience may be helpful. Students will leave with a one-of-a-kind Pacific Northwest-inspired pebble ring or cuff.

Please bring:

  • Apron

  • Any stones you would like to incorporate into your design. Please avoid ultra-fragile or soft stones, such as opals, which can crack under setting pressure. The instructor will also have stones and metal at market price for purchase by Venmo or check.

All other tools and workspace are provided—just bring closed-toe shoes, tied-back hair, and your creativity!

Explore the creative possibilities of raw metal fabrication, flame, texture, and stone setting in this intensive two-day workshop. Starting from scratch, you’ll melt down silver scraps to pour your own custom ingot, then mill it into a thick sheet of metal to create a bold, wide-band ring.

You’ll learn the art of reticulation, using a torch to intentionally wrinkle and crater the surface of silver, creating dramatic, organic textures that make every piece unique. You’ll also explore mixed-metal granulation, learning how to fuse small silver or gold spheres onto your textured band for added depth and contrast.

Once your ring is constructed, the focus shifts to precision stone setting. You’ll learn how to fabricate flush tube or bezel settings, cut custom seats, and securely set your choice of vibrant gemstones.

By the end of the weekend, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind reticulated statement ring that balances dramatic texture with refined metalwork and colorful stone accents.

Take your metal fabrication skills to a larger scale in this intensive two-day workshop focused on creating a bold, textured silver cuff. Starting with silver scraps, you’ll pour your own custom ingot and process it through a rolling mill to create a substantial cuff blank.

You’ll learn macro-reticulation, using a torch to intentionally wrinkle and crater the surface of a large silver sheet, creating dramatic, organic texture. You’ll also explore mixed-metal granulation techniques to add depth and contrast to your design.

On the second day, you’ll focus on forming and stone setting. Using studio stakes and heavy mallets, you’ll shape your textured metal into a comfortable cuff tailored to your wrist. You’ll then learn how to adapt, level, and solder a custom bezel cup onto the curved bracelet band to securely hold a statement gemstone.

You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind reticulated silver cuff featuring dramatic texture, mixed-metal accents, and a prominent gemstone.
