Fiber Dyeing with Plants

Students will explore the art of fiber preparation and dyeing, discovering plants that thrive in their very own backyard, locally foraged treasures, and effective techniques for extracting vibrant pigments from dye sources. Through hands-on experience, they will craft exquisite dye card samples and have the opportunity to dye yarn or a silk scarf, showcasing a spectrum of colors that truly reflect their individual creativity.
Students can bring a notebook to take notes in and a jar or two if they want to take home leftover colors to try dyeing at home. A small quantity of wool or silk to dye additional fiber in class (if there is leftover dye).

Students will either design their own image or choose from a variety of templates, learn how to transfer it onto an embroidery hoop, select a color palette, and master the basics of working with the punch needle tool. Once you start punching, it’s hard to stop!
Students will learn how to create and transfer a design to an embroidery hoop, choose color palettes and combine threads effectively, and use the punch needle tool to create texture and dimension. By the end of the class, each student will have a completed punch needle artwork in a 4–5 inch embroidery hoop.
All supplies are provided, and this class is perfect for beginners looking for a creative and hands-on introduction to fiber art.

No experience or hand cutting required! Pre-cut, premium cardstock paper petals are provided. This makes learning fun and approachable, while achieving detail that would not be possible by hand.

In this beginner-friendly class, students will learn how to crochet and customize their own piece of headwear—whether it’s a beanie, mask, or balaclava. Perfect for the colder months, this workshop covers the basics of crochet, including how to read and adapt patterns to fit different head sizes. By the end of the class, students will complete one handmade item and leave with the tools, skills, and patterns needed to continue creating on their own.
Students are more than welcome to bring their own yarn and supplies if they’d like to personalize their project. A beanie can be made with any yarn weight, as long as the pattern is adjusted accordingly—so there’s plenty of room for creativity. That said, all necessary materials will be provided, so no one will be left empty-handed if they don’t bring their own.
Fiber Arts Bootcamp
Fiber Arts Bootcamp: February 4th, 11th, 18th, & 25th 6pm-9pm
Through this multi-session workshop attendees will gain hands-on experience in a wide variety of fiber art styles. From weaving, to felting, and embroidery, you will leave each session with fresh ideas for your own practice as well as ways educators can incorporate fiber art practices into their classrooms. Learn the same silkscreen techniques that Pop artists like Andy Warhol used to create your own bright and bold work of art. Join us for a one-day seminar to learn the basics of screen printing and leave with your very own hand-made prints at the end of the session!
Students will learn how to coat and prepare screens for printing, how to adjust a photo and print it to burn a screen, how to register and print a 2-color image, the basics of what papers and inks to use in screen printing, and how to properly clean and care for screens.
Students will create 5 two-color prints on 9 x 12 paper (t-shirts are optional if a student wants to supply their own shirt).
