Fiber Arts Bootcamp
Fiber Arts Bootcamp: February 4th, 11th, 18th, & 25th 6pm-9pm
Through this multi-session workshop attendees will gain hands-on experience in a wide variety of fiber art styles. From weaving, to felting, and embroidery, you will leave each session with fresh ideas for your own practice as well as ways educators can incorporate fiber art practices into their classrooms. This workshop is open to educators, beginning fiber arts practitioners, or anyone looking to get introductory knowledge in various fiber arts practices!

Week 1: Embroidery Basics to Advanced and how to Needle felt
🎯 Goals
Learn and practice foundational to advanced embroidery stitches.
Explore creative applications of embroidery in art and everyday objects.
Develop strategies for teaching embroidery and needle felting across K–12 levels.
Encourage slow, mindful making and personal expression.
🎨 Week 2: Surface Design – Paint, Dye, Bleach, Batik & Stamp
🎯 Goals
Introduce students to a variety of surface design techniques.
Emphasize experimentation, accessibility, and creative expression.
Provide adaptable, low-cost project ideas for K–12 classrooms.
Encourage sustainable practices through upcycling and DIY materials.
🧶 Week 3: Intro to Weaving – Tools, Materials & Projects
🎯 Goals
Introduce students to the basics of weaving and loom construction.
Explore simple, low-cost weaving tools and techniques.
Provide adaptable project ideas for different age groups.
Share inspiring examples and books to deepen understanding.
🧵 Week 4: Final Project – Fiber Fusion
🎯 Goals
Encourage creative freedom and personal expression.
Apply multiple fiber techniques learned in Weeks 1–3.
Develop a finished piece that showcases individual voice and craftsmanship.
Practice planning, problem-solving, and reflection.

This camp is designed for young artists who are excited to explore the world of textile art and soft sculpture. You’ll learn a variety of techniques like embroidery, tie-dye, weaving, and needle felting to create unique, dynamic artwork using fabric and other materials.
Throughout the camp, students will explore the basics of each technique, from designing patterns and textures to creating soft sculptures and colorful fabric pieces. You’ll experiment with these arts to create your own wearable pieces, sculptures, and textile-based projects that showcase your personal style.
All supplies are provided, but please bring lunch and join us for a week of hands-on creativity, learning, and fun with fiber arts!
