Give your old clothes a new life! In this hands-on fiber arts class, you’ll transform forgotten shirts, jackets, jeans, and other garments into unique, wearable works of art using fabric collage, embroidery, stitching, and other surface-design techniques.
Start by learning how to plan a design and bring your ideas to life on fabric. Experiment with techniques such as fabric collage, hand stitching, bleach painting, stamping, and needle felting to create layers of color, texture, and personality. You’ll see examples of upcycled clothing and work by other artists for inspiration, along with helpful resources and ideas to keep your creativity going beyond the class.
Throughout the month, you’ll have the opportunity to transform one or more pieces of clothing while building confidence as a fiber artist and discovering just how much potential your old clothes have. Bring a garment you’re ready to reimagine and fall in love with your wardrobe all over again!
