You will be creating a beautiful wrought iron fused glass garden stake to add a splash of color in your yard or on your patio.
Students will learn basic fusing concepts and will have the opportunity to use transparent and/or opalescent colored glass on a clear base along with frit, stringers, and nuggets. You will be given tips on design and layout to create your own unique garden stake.
You will make a 2 3/4” x 24” fused glass panel to insert into a wrought iron garden stake that stands approximately 43” high. Class includes all supplies and the garden stake.
Glass will be fired outside of class and ready for pick up at the Schack Art Center at a later date.

Welcome to the vibrant world of mosaics! In this hands-on introductory workshop, you'll learn the essential techniques needed to create beautiful mosaic art.
Students will be introduced to the basics of cutting and nipping glass, working with various adhesives and substrates, choosing and placing tesserae, and applying different grouting methods. You'll also explore three distinct mosaic techniques: glass on wood, glass on glass, and the indirect method.
Projects include a glass-on-wood mosaic, a glass sun catcher, and an indirect cast mosaic.

Come experience the wonder of natural dyeing in this one-day workshop! Learn how to scour and mordant cotton fabric and apply natural color using immersion dyeing techniques.
By the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to properly prepare cotton for the dye bath and create their own natural dye pot. Each student will leave with a beautifully dyed cotton bandana they’ve prepared and dyed during class, along with three additional cotton samples to take home.

You will be creating a beautiful wrought iron fused glass garden stake to add a splash of color in your yard or on your patio.
Students will learn basic fusing concepts and will have the opportunity to use transparent and/or opalescent colored glass on a clear base along with frit, stringers, and nuggets. You will be given tips on design and layout to create your own unique garden stake.
You will make a 2 3/4” x 24” fused glass panel to insert into a wrought iron garden stake that stands approximately 43” high. Class includes all supplies and the garden stake.
Glass will be fired outside of class and ready for pick up at the Schack Art Center at a later date.

In this workshop, students will learn how to create a relief fruit sculpture on canvas using lightweight construction foam and flexible modeling paste. Each participant will select a fruit of their choice—such as a pomegranate, lemon, orange, or similar—and build the raised form using sculpting foam as the core structure.
Students will refine the surface and sculpt dimensional branches using SamanArt Flexible Modeling Paste. They will also learn painting techniques for both the background and the sculpted fruit using acrylics, and will complete their piece with painted leaves to enhance the composition.
By the end of the session, each student will have a fully sculpted and painted 16x20-inch relief artwork ready to take home.

Creating tiny glass hearts is a fun introduction to sculpting with glass. Using rods of borosilicate glass and bench-mounted flameworking torches, students will learn how to melt and shape glass. Different methods of applying color will be covered.
Students will learn how to safely operate a flameworking torch and how to use the flame to melt and shape borosilicate glass into heart shapes. We will also experiment with applying frit and stringer to the hot glass for added color and decoration.

They will also be introduced to decoupage techniques, incorporating printed photos or illustrations and seamlessly adhering, sealing, and blending them into the textured surface.

Creating tiny glass hearts is a fun introduction to sculpting with glass. Using rods of borosilicate glass and bench-mounted flameworking torches, students will learn how to melt and shape glass. Different methods of applying color will be covered.
Students will learn how to safely operate a flameworking torch and how to use the flame to melt and shape borosilicate glass into heart shapes. We will also experiment with applying frit and stringer to the hot glass for added color and decoration.
Students will make several small (3/4"-1") glass hearts.

In this workshop, students will be introduced to Gel Plate Printmaking using an 8" x 10" gel plate and acrylic paint. We’ll learn to work with leaves, ferns, branches, and flowers to build unique botanical gel prints. Our goal will be to create botanical monoprints and monotypes that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also excellent material for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.
Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has a minimal setup and does not require the use of a press, making it possible to do it from almost anywhere.
Students will learn:
A basic understanding of how paints and papers may impact gel prints, including thick vs. thin papers, opaque vs. transparent layers, and “What is the right amount of paint?”
• How to use botanical items, such as leaves, ferns, and flowers as textures and masks for gel printing.
• How to clean, care for, and store a gel printing plate.

Welcome to the vibrant world of mosaics! In this hands-on introductory workshop, you'll learn the essential techniques needed to create beautiful mosaic art.
Students will be introduced to the basics of cutting and nipping glass, working with various adhesives and substrates, choosing and placing tesserae, and applying different grouting methods. You'll also explore three distinct mosaic techniques: glass on wood, glass on glass, and the indirect method.
Projects include a glass-on-wood mosaic, a glass sun catcher, and an indirect cast mosaic.

Gel Printing with Botanicals

In this workshop, students will be introduced to Gel Plate Printmaking using an 8" x 10" gel plate and acrylic paint. We’ll learn to work with leaves, ferns, branches, and flowers to build unique botanical gel prints. Our goal will be to create botanical monoprints and monotypes that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also excellent material for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.
Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has a minimal setup and does not require the use of a press, making it possible to do it from almost anywhere.
Students will learn:
A basic understanding of how paints and papers may impact gel prints, including thick vs. thin papers, opaque vs. transparent layers, and “What is the right amount of paint?”
• How to use botanical items, such as leaves, ferns, and flowers as textures and masks for gel printing.
• How to clean, care for, and store a gel printing plate.

Intro to Lampwork Glass - Tiny Glass Hearts

Creating tiny glass hearts is a fun introduction to sculpting with glass. Using rods of borosilicate glass and bench-mounted flameworking torches, students will learn how to melt and shape glass. Different methods of applying color will be covered.
Students will learn how to safely operate a flameworking torch and how to use the flame to melt and shape borosilicate glass into heart shapes. We will also experiment with applying frit and stringer to the hot glass for added color and decoration.
Students will make several small (3/4"-1") glass hearts.

Welcome to the vibrant world of mosaics! In this hands-on introductory workshop, you'll learn the essential techniques needed to create beautiful mosaic art.
Students will be introduced to the basics of cutting and nipping glass, working with various adhesives and substrates, choosing and placing tesserae, and applying different grouting methods. You'll also explore three distinct mosaic techniques: glass on wood, glass on glass, and the indirect method.
Projects include a glass-on-wood mosaic, a glass sun catcher, and an indirect cast mosaic.

By the end of this 4-day camp, you’ll have a collection of original portraits — including a finished self-portrait — and we’ll celebrate everyone’s work with a mini gallery showcase!

Through hands-on experimentation, students will create their own junk journals using recycled and upcycled materials, decorative papers, fabric, and found objects.
Throughout the week, students will learn techniques such as folding, stitching, and assembling pages, as well as designing covers and adding personal touches. By the end of camp, each student will have a one-of-a-kind journal or handmade book to treasure and share, showcasing their creativity and growing skills in bookmaking.

Learn how to create unique monoprints without a press using a gel printing plate. In this class, we'll use an 8" x 10" gel plate with acrylic paint, found textures, and DIY stencils and stamps. We'll work to create prints that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also wonderful for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.
Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has minimal setup and is easy to do almost anywhere.
Students will learn:
Techniques for creating layered prints using a gel plate and acrylic paint.
How to use homemade stencils/masks and found objects to create interesting textures in your prints.
A basic understanding of how different paints and papers may impact your finished prints.
How to use, care for, and store a gel printing plate.
Students will create monoprints and a variety of printed papers using a gel plate. These prints may also be used for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.

In this fun and beginner-friendly class, you’ll explore the beautiful art of paper quilling, also known as paper filigree—a traditional craft that dates back to the Renaissance. Using simple tools and colorful paper strips, you’ll learn how to roll, twist, shape, and bend paper to create your own unique designs.
Students will be introduced to the basic techniques of quilling, including how to form common shapes and combine them into intricate patterns. We’ll also discuss the different tools and materials used in this versatile art form. Whether you’re new to crafting or looking to expand your creative skills, this class offers a relaxing and inspiring way to turn simple paper into something beautiful!

After learning basic silversmithing skills at the beginning of class, students can hone those skills with guided individual projects. The instructor presents more techniques and working side by side with other students creating their individual projects broadens the experience.

Headwear 101: From Beanies to Balaclavas

In this beginner-friendly class, students will learn how to crochet and customize their own piece of headwear—whether it’s a beanie, mask, or balaclava. Perfect for the colder months, this workshop covers the basics of crochet, including how to read and adapt patterns to fit different head sizes. By the end of the class, students will complete one handmade item and leave with the tools, skills, and patterns needed to continue creating on their own.
Students are more than welcome to bring their own yarn and supplies if they’d like to personalize their project. A beanie can be made with any yarn weight, as long as the pattern is adjusted accordingly—so there’s plenty of room for creativity. That said, all necessary materials will be provided, so no one will be left empty-handed if they don’t bring their own.
Fused Coral Sea Bowl

You will be creating a beautiful sea-inspired coral bowl to adorn your tabletop.
Students will learn basic fusing concepts. You will be given tips on design and layout to create your own unique coral design.
Students will make a 10"-13" fused coral bowl using strips of glass. Additional design elements can be added with frit and nuggets.
Glass will be fired outside of class and ready for pick up at the Schack Art Center at a later date.
