Discover the relaxing art of whittling in this hands-on class. Using just a carving knife, students create small wooden crafts such as hairpins, combs, pendants, T-shirt pins, or other decorative pieces. Students choose from designs provided by the instructor and learn essential whittling techniques. These functional pieces can be used daily or given as handmade gifts. No previous experience is required.

In this one-day workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of carving a wooden kitchen spoon, one of the most practical and rewarding introductions to woodcarving. You’ll be guided through the full process, including wood selection, understanding grain direction, preparing spoon blanks, safe and effective carving techniques, shaping the bowl and handle, and applying a traditional food-safe oil finish.
This hands-on class is designed for beginners, but it is also valuable for anyone wanting to build stronger carving skills. By the end of the workshop, students will leave with a handcrafted spoon and the confidence to continue future carving projects at home.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of whittling while creating a charming wooden ornament to take home and enjoy for years to come. Sharpening and honing techniques will also be demonstrated to help keep carving tools razor-sharp.

During this hands-on class, you will be making two spoons. Get started with the basic skills and safety practices while carving a simple and useful kitchen spoon. Continue to hone your skills as you carve a more decorative "love spoon" -- something often given as a gift. Learn about wood selection, preparing blanks, basic carving techniques, and traditional oil finishing. These skills will help you become prepared for future wood carving projects that you can use in another class or at home.

Make multiple copies of greeting cards, gifts, fabric, and decor. Block printing is an ancient art with roots in many cultures that can provide inspiration.
