In this one-day workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of carving a wooden kitchen spoon, one of the most practical and rewarding introductions to woodcarving. You’ll be guided through the full process, including wood selection, understanding grain direction, preparing spoon blanks, safe and effective carving techniques, shaping the bowl and handle, and applying a traditional food-safe oil finish.
This hands-on class is designed for beginners, but also valuable for anyone wanting to build stronger carving skills. By the end of the workshop, students will leave with a handcrafted spoon and the confidence to continue future carving projects at home.

Also, remember to bring a lunch as this is a whole day class, and there will be a break to eat.

Students choose from designs provided by the instructor and learn essential whittling techniques. These functional pieces can be used daily or given as handmade gifts. No previous experience is required.
