This beginner-friendly, one-day workshop introduces students to the fundamentals of flameworking with borosilicate glass while creating a festive collection of miniature holiday sculptures. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on projects, students will explore essential techniques such as flame chemistry, shaping, pulling and laying stringers, and sculpting small-scale solid forms.
As the class progresses, students will practice shaping, twisting, and assembling glass to create charming seasonal pieces. Safety practices and proper torch techniques are emphasized throughout, ensuring a supportive and approachable learning environment for beginners.
By the end of the workshop, students will have created a mini snow person, an icicle ornament, and festive glass candy canes. Students will leave with a strong foundation in flameworking and the skills and inspiration to continue creating their own miniature glass sculptures.
All supplies provided. Please wear cotton clothing without draped sleeves and closed-toed shoes.
