7 WA State Clock Hours

Discover how art can serve as a dynamic bridge between environmental science, mathematics, and creative expression in this inspiring educator workshop designed for teachers seeking interdisciplinary approaches and STEM Clock Hours.

Join fellow educators and teaching artists for a hands-on weekend exploring how eco-conscious art practices can deepen student understanding of environmental systems, material science, and data-informed design. Through project-based learning experiences, participants will examine how recycled and natural materials open opportunities to teach scientific inquiry, engineering thinking, measurement, and problem-solving within the art classroom.

Educators will:

  • Explore the science of sustainable materials and life cycles

  • Integrate environmental data, observation, and systems thinking into visual art projects

  • Connect design challenges to engineering principles and resource management

  • Discuss contemporary artists whose work addresses climate change and environmental justice

Participants will leave with ready-to-implement, standards-aligned lesson plans that support math and science integration while fostering environmental literacy and student advocacy. This workshop supports educators looking to meaningfully blend art, sustainability, and STEM learning — equipping you with practical tools to meet curriculum goals while inspiring the next generation of environmentally conscious thinkers.
