Turn everyday materials into something meaningful in this hands-on workshop where you’ll create a symbolic nicho—a small shadow box inspired by Mexican folk art and personal storytelling. Using recycled cardboard, papier mâché, and mixed media techniques, you’ll learn how to sculpt and build a layered, altar-like piece from scratch. You'll experiment with acrylic paint to add texture and fine details, and bring your artwork to life with shiny metal accents and touches of gold leaf. Most importantly, you’ll explore how to include personal symbols and stories, turning your nicho into a soulful and eye-catching expression of who you are. Whether bold, emotional, or full of sparkle, your finished piece will be a meaningful work of art that’s as unique as you are.
